Mr. Dai-soon Lee was reelected president of the Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU) at an ATU General Assembly in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on May 3, 2012.
The ATU General Assembly, held at the Rex Hotel in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, unanimously asked for Mr. Lee’s continued service as head of the ATU.
“I humbly accept the presidency of the ATU for the harmony and development of the ATU,” said Mr. Lee in his acceptance speech. “I will do my utmost to further solidify the status of taekwondo as an Olympic sport.”
The election took place one day prior to the opening of the 1st Asian Junior Taekwondo Poomsae Championships. The 2nd Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships will take place at the same venue on May 5, with the 6th Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships scheduled for May 6-8, and the 20th Asian Taekwondo Championships on May 9-11.
